In Leviticus we see five sacrifices that were brought to the tabernacle. Each sacrifice served its own purpose, and each sacrifice illustrates how we walk with God. In chapter one, we see the burnt offering, an offering that was not mandatory, an offering that speaks of our dedication to the Lord. If one decided to make this offering, they were to bring a sacrifice according to their possessions. If a one decided to make this offering, he would bring forth his sacrifice that was to be washed in its entrails and its legs with water. Once washed, it would be consumed by fire.
Paul encourages the believer in Romans 12:1:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
The entrails speak of the heart, and the legs of our walk. My encouragement for those who have decided to give our lives as a sacrifice to God, is that we would continue to wash ourselves with the Word of God. Paul describes in Ephesians 5:26, how the Word washes us clean. As we continue to read His Word, and dedicate our lives to Him, we too can be consumed by fire. A fire that will drive us to serve the Lord in capacities we never could have thought or imagined. And as we make these sacrifices, they become a sweet aroma to the Lord.
How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word. – Psalm 119:9
May you have blessed week and may The Holy Spirit rest upon you!!
